The Virtual Textile Project

Catherine Bradley

Catherine Bradley is the founder of the Digital Costume Project and co-founder of the Virtual Textile Project (VTP). Catherine’s collaboration with Kat Lind of Dragon and Phoenix Software Inc. to build the VTP has made the dream of creating digital surrogates of heritage textiles a reality. VTP is the joint effort of education and industry to create an open access database of vintage and antique textiles, available to researchers, artists and the general public. Catherine is the Resident Costume Designer and Wardrobe Manager at McGill University, where she teaches costuming for the theatre and history of costume. She has worked in professional theatre, ballet, opera, film and television on a free-lance basis. Her work includes the creation of costumes, hats and accessories for many of the major Canadian theatres, such as Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival, National Arts Center, National Ballet, Montreal Opera and The Banff Center.
