McGill University Digital Humanities
McGill University is home to the Virtual Textile Project’s open access database. The Virtual Textile Project is the brain child of McGill researcher, Catherine Bradley, Resident Costume Designer and Head of Wardrobe for McGill’s Drama and Theatre Program, Department of English. The idea for the project came about as Bradley developed new ways of incorporating digital techniques into costume illustration, through her Digital Costume Project http://digitalcostumeproject.mcgill.ca/. In the process, Bradley noticed a critical lack of high quality digital fabrics that could be imported into costume designs. She quickly realized that all types of designers, artists, researchers, and educators would welcome a reliable, high quality source of digital fabric textures.
